Maria Katsikovordou has been a member of Greece’s New Democracy party since the age of 18, maintaining an active presence in political and public affairs throughout her career. She served as an assistant in the press office of the “Ypernomarchia Drasis” campaign in Athens during the 2006 regional elections. In 2008 she served as a Special Communications Advisor to the office of the Governments’ Spokesperson.
Later on she became campaign coordinator for the 2014 European Parliament elections in the Prefecture of Preveza. In 2015, she led the “Yes” campaign in Preveza during Greece’s national referendum.
Katsikovordou was elected Head of the Culture Sector for the Prefecture of Preveza and the Epirus region in 2013 and has also been an active member of New Democracy’s Defense and Women’s policy sectors.
She was a parliamentary candidate for Preveza in Greece’s dual national elections in 2015 and again in the dual elections of 2023.

A television appearance on SKAI TV an morning talk show “Oi Atairiastoi” during the 2015 National Election campaign, where Maria, as a candidate for Hellenic Parliament with the ND Party, debates political issues, public concerns and the social climate of the period.

In this interview to the journalist Dionysis Zakynthinos and Gnomi Newspaper, Maria Katsikovordou emphasised the importance of stability, security and responsible leadership for Greece’s future, arguing that citizens are seeking reliability after years of uncertainty and crisis. She highlighted infrastructure improvements, stronger transportation networks, investment, job creation and support for agriculture and sustainable tourism as key priorities for the Prefecture of Preveza. Katsikovordou also stressed the importance of strengthening Greece’s national defense and international standing, describing the country as a pillar of stability in the region under the government of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis
